Arleen Spenceley‘s debut non-fiction book “Chastity is for Lovers” is factual and sensible. The 125 page piece makes a strong argument against following the modern trend of being sexuality active. She opens readers eyes to chastity, which is a way of devoting your entire life to selfless service of others. Chastity is not about saving ones’ self for marriage, but living a holy life honorable to God in all things.
I’m not Catholic, but I am a Christian who thoroughly agreed with the majority of what Arleen had to say in the book.
The eight chapter book carefully examines sex in today’s culture, how virginity is judged in the media, dating with marriage in mind (courting), practicing self-control instead of contraception and so much more.
Virgin or not, it is never too late to start living a chaste life. As Arleen tells readers, we all acquire true purity through baptism. No one’s self worth is determined by their sex life. God defines individuals’ worth.
