Book Review: Kathryn Cushman’s “Fading Starlight”

FadingStarlight_KathrynCushman

Kathryn Cushman’s “Fading Starlight” is a breath of fresh air!

The scenery Cushman describes in her new novel sounds so serene, peaceful and utterly breathtaking you will enjoy being transported into that world.  In the story, an alleged high-profile, fashion designer mistake forces Lauren Summer into seclusion. Surprisingly, the designer in-training still manages to land a small job making costumes for a high school theatre department in Santa Barbara, CA.  The LA native relocates to the picturesque beach location right next door to a rich yet mean elderly woman named Charlotte Montgomery. She and the former Hollywood starlet butt heads. until she is kicked out of the neighborhood. The unexpected happy ending comes after many misunderstandings and exposed broken hearts.

I think “Fading Starlight” was just delightful. It was very different from the inspirational novels I am used to reading, but that made it all the more enjoyable. Ten stars out of ten for this sweet summer read. I highly recommend reading this one.
