The Joffrey Ballet Confirms Lineup for New Season

The Joffrey Ballet is excited to bring more thrilling shows to their Chicago audience. Yesterday, they announced via a press release that beloved classics will be included in the powerful setlist for the coming year.

“Jane Eyre” starts everything on October 16th, while Wheeldon’s “The Nutcracker” ushers in the holiday season on November 30th. “The Times Are Racing”, “Mono Lisa”, “The Sofa”, “Commedia, and Bliss!” and “Don Quixote” and more round out the rest of the shows’ list.

The Mary B. Galvin Artistic Director Ashley Wheater and President and CEO Greg Cameron made personal statements about the 2019-2020 season.

Ashley Wheater: “Next season we will showcase the range, diversity and quality of work being created for ballet companies in the 21st century. We want to introduce Chicago audiences to fresh faces, all of whom are shaping the dance landscape today: Cathy Marston’s visionary Jane Eyre, Justin Peck’s innovative ‘sneaker ballet’ The Times Are Racing, two dances inspired by the pioneering music of Igor Stravinsky and thrilling work by Israeli choreographer Itzik Galili. Even the classic story Don Quixote finds new relevance with choreography by Yuri Possokhov, who created our groundbreaking Anna Karenina for this year’s winter program.”

This classic series features four rich young men becoming best friends and unofficial bodyguards for their righteous female classmate. Two of the “flower” boys even start falling for the honorable lady.

“Playful Kiss”

Unrequited love isn’t the end for one high school girl determined to win her crush’s heart. Her topsy tursy road to happily ever after is worth watching over and over.

“When Time Stopped”

Love unexpectedly forms between an average woman and man with the unique ability to stop time. Even when he uses his supernatural power, it doesn’t stop her daily routine.

Can you believe KBS‘ “Boys Over Flowers” premiered this month 10 years ago? Time flies when you’re having fun, and the main cast seems to be thoroughly enjoying themselves these days with a variety of activities. From military duty to new projects, let’s found out what our favorite actors have been up to recently.

Lee Min Ho

He is currently serving his country in the military and is scheduled to be discharged this April. In 2016, Lee starred in the SBS’ fantasy series “Legend of the Blue Sea”, as well as, the joint Chinese/South Korean film “Bounty Hunters”.

Goo Hye Sun

Since the 2017 MBC family show “You Are Too Much”,  she has stepped away from the limelight to focus on her other artistic passions. Goo directed and wrote the 2018 short film “Mystery Pink“. She has been enjoying married life with fellow actor Ahn Jae Hyun while featuring their newlywed life in the 2017 tvN reality series “Newlywed Diary”.

Kim Hyun Joong

After being discharged from the military in 2017, releasing new music and touring Japan, Kim starred in the KBS W fantasy series “When Time Stopped”. Kim has even more music plans in the near future!

Kim Beom

Like Lee Min Ho, he is also serving in the military. However, fans saw him on the big screen last year in the action comedy film “Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead”. His last series was the 2016 SBS crime/thriller “Mrs. Cop 2”.

Kim Joon

The happily married father of one announced his family life last year. Kim wed his longtime girlfriend in 2015, and they are raising their baby girl out of the spotlight. He is now an active theatre actor. His last television production was the MBC dramanet political series “City of the Sun”.

I’m looking forward to hearing more good news from them over the next decade!

Tim Tebow’s Wife, Demi-Leigh, Joins Internet Trend

It’s only a matter of time before Demi-Leigh walks down the aisle with America’s famous athlete, so we should start calling her wife now!

One week after getting engaged, the beauty pageant winner had fun with the internet’s 10 year challenge. She shared a glamorous photo of herself at age 13 and her current age (23) via social media. She proves her natural beauty status with the timeless snapshots. The only major change over the years seems to be make-up.

Demi-Leigh and Tim Tebow announced their engagement on January 10, and the world is anxiously waiting on wedding news.

Kevin Woo is busy planning for the future!

On Monday, the former U-KISS member returned to his ASC roots by appearing as a guest on Arirang’s “After School Club”. He had a ball on the show greeting fans, joking with the hosts, playing games and even discussing his solo career. Kevin talked about the possibility of touring internationally to meet his fans around he world.

YouTube celebrities Madilyn Bailey and Ryan Higa kicked off 2019 with two very different benchmarks. Recently, they shared news about video views and dieting via social media.

Madilyn was overjoyed about one of her latest videos attracting views in a short amount of time. She had to be in awe by her fans outpouring of love. (To date, the video has over 2.1 million views)

Ryan marveled at a milestone of his own! He kept his post lighthearted by reminiscing about 2018 and making fun of his poor diet just a mere week ago.

Fantasy Casting: Disney’s “Pocahontas”

Pocahontas is one of the iconic films many 80s and 90s kids  grew up watching. Even though I preferred the sequel (“Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World”), I would still like to see a live action version based on the original film. If Disney decides to remake this one, I have a few actors in mind who would fit the starring roles perfectly.

Pocahontas  (Zendaya)

She is a Disney alum and young star who would definitely shine as the lovely, strong and statuesque Pocahontas. Disney fans fell in love with her in Shake It Up”, “K.C. Undercover”, as well as, some DCOMs. I think they would welcome her as a Princess.

John Smith (Cole Sprouse)

The “Riverdale” actor would also be returning to Disney roots if he took on the role of the European explorer who falls in love with Pocahontas. He and his twin brother (Dylan) are this generation’s heartthrobs who have the ability to take on any role.

Chief Powhatan (Martin Sensmeier)

At first glance, “The Magnificent Seven”actor seems like the perfect  Kocoum. However, that character has a tragic end during the film, so I felt the powerful and knowledgeable Chief Powhatan was a better fit for him. In real life, Martin is an expert on Native American culture, who is proud of his Tlingit and Koyukon-Athabascan descent.

Grandmother Willow (Octavia Spencer)

The Academy Award winning actress has played a variety of roles, but nothing can beat playing God in “The Shack”. So, I think her advice as the mystical and wise Grandmother Willow is sure to be concrete.

Nakoma (Vanessa Hudgens)

The “High School Musical” alum has found her voice on-screen and stage. She’s more than qualified to be a best friend to Pocahontas. This time around, Nakoma deserves more musical numbers and a better love story.

I’m hoping Disney greenlights a new “Pocahontas” soon and considers these talented actors!
