Book Review: Sarah Jakes’ “Lost And Found: Finding HOPE in the Detours of Life”

“A large part of being found comes from surrendering your pride and accepting God’s grace.”

There is no way to prepare for Sarah Jakes‘ memoir about her life. It’s raw, emotional and painfully real. To be completely honest, I could not relate to teenage Sarah in the beginning of the book, because my young years were the polar opposite.

However, her story “‘Lost & Found’ Finding Hope in the Detours of Life” hits a nerve with each and every reader as the girl from the picture perfect church family struggles to find her true self in the world. Sarah’s first child was only the starting line of a journey for love and acceptance.

In the book, Miss Jakes talks about growing up under a microscope as Bishop T.D Jakes daughter, college life and her ultimate turbulent marriage to a former Washington Redskins football player. Her faith in God is what ultimately saved her from herself. T.D. Jakes foreword was definitely a needed addition to this surprising memoir.

BTSCelebs recommends the book to anyone willing to see real life poured into the pages of one book. It’s a tough story, but you will end up cheering for Sarah Jakes in the end.

*BTSCelebs thanks Bethany House for the complimentary copy of the book.*
