Lara Jean Casting in “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before”: Why Didn’t Jeon Somi or Tia Cuevas Get Chosen?

Jeon Somi and Tia Cuevas

I’m sure Lana Candor is an amazing actress, and this post is in no way disrespecting her.

However, I’m surprised that the casting department for the movie “To All The Boys I Loved Before” didn’t follow the book to a T when choosing Lara Jean Song Covey. Hollywood is always very picky when it comes to casting based on ethnicity, even movie extras. In the book, Lara is described as bi-racial (half Caucasian and Korean) and two of South Korea’s well-known bi-racial idols Jeon Somi or Tia Cuevas (former Chocolat member) closely fit the description. Not to mention, Somi is exactly 16 years-old (which mirrors Lara’s age in book 1). If they ever wanted to turn the film into a Broadway musical, both of these ladies can sing and dance too!

The ladies mentioned in this article may have been in the running and just passed up on the offer. No one knows for sure. Nonetheless, I just had to state my opinion. In addition, I sincerely hope they clean up the language for the film version. I found the book’s use of profanity more appropriate for an adult novel than a book geared for pre-teens. The sequel “P.S. I Still Love You” was definitely filled with even more adult language.

Movie Review: “Because of Gracia”

The definition of “Because of Gracia” is simple…. love.

Recording Artist Moriah Peters-Smallbone and actor Chris Massoglia star in the film all about loving others and accepting God’s love. Everyone makes mistakes, but BOG shows viewers that unconditional love is available if we ‘re willing to receive it. It also touches on freedom of speech. Despite differences in religion or world views, people can become the best of friends if they respect each other.

In Moriah’s film debut, she plays a teen girl named Gracia, who transfers to a new high school. The journey begins when she meets Chase (Chris), his friend O.B., an atheist teacher, and a pregnant girl in debate class. Her impact on everyone is beyond anything she can even imagine! Gracia encourages the people around her to stand up for their beliefs and dare to make the right choices in life. Teachers and students alike learn the important lesson that sometimes the only way to discover the truth is through making mistakes.

“Because of Gracia” is well done. The movie also stars fan favorites John Schneider and Ben Davies. I guarantee you’ll find yourself wanting to watch it over and over again. I watched it twice before writing this review! Catch the film in select theaters across the USA on September 15, 2017.

Jamie Grace and Sister, Morgan Harper Nichols, Team Up for Spring 2018 Project

Today, Jamie Grace‘s team shared some exciting news about the indie singer and her older sis. They are currently filming a secret project slated for a March 2018 release date. Details about the production is TBA, but we can still make wild guesses like a home improvement show, a web series (possibly on networks like Netflix) or even a cable program on a station like Freeform.

Book Review: Victoria Bylin’s “The Two of Us”

“… Trust means something different to me now. It’s not about avoiding the hard times. It’s about going through them with God’s grace and help of other people.” Mia Robinson

The quote above pretty much sums up Victoria Bylin’s latest novel “The Two of Us”. The story is about three couples (at different stages of life) loving each other unconditionally while going through hardships. Mia Robinson and Jake Tanner are a couple in their thirties juggling their passion for their careers and their budding relationship, Frank and Claire are an older married couple facing Alzheimers head on and Sam and Lucy are a young pair who wed after an unexpected pregnancy. Author Bylin doesn’t sugarcoat real life one bit as she guides us through their individual journeys.

Keep your tissues handy as you read 342 pages exposing reality and people in their most vulnerable moments. The moral of the story seems to be trusting God throughout all of life’s circumstances no matter the outcome. There is a happy ending to look forward to, but it does come at a price.

I recommend this book to non-fiction lovers looking for a good read.

Boy Band’s Devin Hayes Starts New Life After The Show

On Thursday, ABC’s “Boy Band” eliminated another fan favorite before the season finale. Illinois’ native Devin Hayes gracefully exited the show with gratitude for the opportunity to appear on the series. He even shared a series of upbeat Instagram clips following his last episode to prove there were no hard feelings for his elimination.

Check out a couple of his posts below:

On Friday, Devin shared this message via Instagram about his tenure on “Boy Band”: “This journey has been amazing. I am so incredibly thankful and humbled to be able to be on such an amazing show. It had such an impact on me and it changed my life. Boy Band has shaped me not only into a better artist, but a better person as well. The confidence I started the show with was close to NONE. I’m happy to say I’m leaving the show with the GREATEST confidence in myself and with a positive and bright spirit. I’m never going to stop being myself. I’m never going to stop smiling. 😊 I won’t ever let someone try and tell me that I need to change who I am as a person. I aim to continue to inspire people and spread positivity. The support I’ve had through this competition is UNREAL. You guys are my everything. I love you Hayzers. Forever and always💪🏼❤️ On to the next chapter”

I was looking forward to Devin, Jaden, Marcus, Sergio and Drew scoring spots in the band. So, Thursday’s show was somewhat upsetting with Devin and Sergio facing off for elimination. I still hope the other guys make it in the band.

All the best to Devin Hayes!
